I know it shoudn't be so hard to make a hack for this but it could be a good feature in upcomming releases. Bumb button - just press and it'll automatically type bumb text into your message and will post it.

Also, an option in the admin panel (enable / disable) would be good.

What do you think?

Isn't that what Sticky is for?

Do I want to encourage members to post meaningless <bump> messages? I don't think so.

Instead of putting a meaningless message, this could just update the dateline of the post. If something like this were put in, it should be restrictable by group.

vb is run on many places for many reasons and I'm sure there are plenty of forums where it would be useful.

That was my opinion.

I thought Sticky is for admins or moderators only.

Freddie, it was just an idea. I wasn't thinking as deeply as I should when writing this. I really like Wluke's idea.

This would be a really nice feature for Admins and Moderators. However I think the best way to do about this is to create a hack and then implement it as standard in a future version.

How about making the option to bump a thread only after X number of hours or days?

Using the search function I found this thread. I have no interest in installing hacks on my forum. Since this is the Vbulletin 2.0 Suggestions and Feedback Forum AND it is an existing thread I put a suggestion in for future versions of the stock Vbulletin.

As Thomas mentioned I made this hack several months ago, both a version to only allow admins/mods to do it, and a version to let "authorized" users do it (either only the thread starter, only particpants in the thread, only the most recent poster in a thread, or any combination of the three). It also includes an optional floodcheck.
