Any details on the security bug, what it did?

But not enough details to tell us how to do it, that would be 'bad'.

So security issue was a very easy thing to exploit, so we cannot say a word about it without giving full access to it.

My advice is to close your board as soon as possible if you are still with a non-fixed RC1. And upgrade to RC2 of course.

All i heard that it was a password exploit?

What did it allow people to do? Login via a user? I just want to know very vague information.

I've got a quick question. I've made some changes to the default postbit used, and I'm guessing since the entire thing was rewritten... that I'm going to have to do all those again, right? (Not a huge deal. Their changes are probably what I did anyways, at least to a point.

And question on the upgrade: Just overwrite all files, and run the upgrade.php (i forget where it's located.... but I'll find it)?

Thanks,
Chris

What happen with the vb team actually telling us what files were changed like they did with vb2 so we dont have to change ALL the files to the new ones with overwriting.

I liked it when vb team gave a list of the files that were changed.

also the postbit issue highlighted in troubleshooting hasn't remedied itself.just noticed the post bit is fixed but theirs still the issue with the divs that enclose eachpost bit and their spacing

although it's annoyingly fine if i remove the border :(

oops the tfoot thing was me playing with something which i've now fixed.

lol another edit, ok found out that the problem is now that the spacer_open renders around everypost bit, what would be the condition to insert to only render it once per-page?

Hello, first of all let me say vb 3x series is great, and wish to congratulate all the members of the development team for doing such an amazing work of art with it.

One thing I would like to brought up to your attention is the fact that the archives feature, is not working correctly with apache 2.x web server, and was wondering if there is any consideration to address this issue in a near future.

Thanks a lot in advanced

Cheers
Sam

PS. if you need to see how it reacts I can post a link for you to check it out.

I have uploaded the files but when I run /upgrade.php it just redirects to the admincp

What do I need to do?As suggested, point your browser to install/upgrade8.php automatically. Just missed adding a line in upgrade.php to handle this version (you'll only be effected if you did a fresh install of RC1).

While I understand that soldifying a solid release date at this point is not going to happen, I *really* need to know whether or not your methodology is calling for the usual month between releases, or are you planning to release gold sooner than later?

While I understand that this answer cannot be solidified without knowing exactly how many large bugs there are, my development schedule is entirely dependent on whether or not you are planning to keep RC2 out in the wild for any extended amount of time. If that is the case, then I will hold off on the continuing development I have planned for this month.

This message is in no means a call to arms for all of the haters to start getting on the vB team...I just want to know if you have a "sooner" or "later" policy on the possibility of getting gold to the public.

Thanks!
John

Hi

Was just answering another thread on this board in another folder which I was subscribed to, but had notifiction of another reply which said basically what I was going to say, but there was no cancel button, just a post and a preview. is that normal? It would have been stupid to post it, and unnecessary space used, the only option was to press back on my browser. just thought I'd mention it in case it was an error.

thanks for your time

Actually the interface is not intuitive at all you do not actually download it from where it says "License Options > Download vBulletin" (which is a bit odd) you need to scroll up to where it says "Current Licenses" and right below that you will see the list of your licenses (or just one if you only have one) and in the right most column of that table you will see a "Download vBulletin" link which is right below the "Edit License" and above the "Additional Services/Renewals".

Hope this helps. (btw if your license has run out I do not think you would have access to the members area would you?)

You can still get into the member's area, in the case of a leased licence, that status of the licence would be "in-active" and you wouldn't be able to download a new version until you paid a further $85.

Are there RC2 template updates that would require revertuinig custom templates or not ?

It sure would be easier if we knew that or knew what files had changed.

I dont know about the rest of you but my time is valuable and if I dont have to replace all the files and then go back and change them all back to make the forum work lke it did, it saves me a bunch of time.

It is a little bit weird on my board http://vietmodel.net when I upgrade it from Gamma to RC2.
First of all the speed of loadpage getting slower than before I upgrade.
Second the default style is turning weird, it is not correct display font for Admin, moderator on "what's going on" section

for example: admin nickname should display font be Admin nickname

and moderator nickname should display font like moderator nickname

When you looking on my board you can't tell which nickname is admin or moderators because the display all the same as members.

What can I do to change my style to get the same as the default style here. Thank you!

for example: admin nickname should display font be Admin nickname
but my display only in regular font like this: admin nickname

and moderator nickname should display font like moderator nickname

but my display only in regular font like this: moderator nickname

member nickname is display the same...so when visitors come to my forum they can't see the different display name between admin, moderator and member.

Actually, in my test board our display correct when I install RC2, but my main board can't display correct. I have no ideas why that happend.

Some things that, for me, are imperative for the final version:

- the admin must have the possibility to choose exactly, for all users, what fileds to appear in their profile after they post (location, age, number of posts etc). This must be done easily in the admincp, not to change code...

- there must be an easy way to make the postbit an user option, also in the admincp.

As Faranth said check the Usergroups. Admin is set as standard to be bold italic.

In the "User HTML Markup" should be <b><i> in the 1st box and </i></b> in the 2nd Box.

For Moderators <b> in the 1st Box. </b> in the 2nd Box.

Are there RC2 template updates that would require reverting custom templates or not ?

It sure would be easier if we knew that or knew what files had changed.

I dont know about the rest of you but my time is valuable and if I dont have to replace all the files and then go back and change them all back to make the forum work like it did, it saves me a bunch of time.
???? Please ?????

you wont be seeing most of that in the final version, if its so impretive to you id suggest hacking it in :)

there is an ez way to make the postbit verticle / horizontal an option :P search

I am trying to Upgrade FROM vBulletin Version 3.0.0 Beta 5 TO vBulletin 3.0.0 Release Candidate 2.

I've read the following:

Upgrading from a previous version

We strongly recommend that you back up your database by following the instructions in step one, here. Then, using your browser, navigate to http://your.forums.site/forums/install/upgrade.php and follow the on-screen instructions.

---

I backed up my database.

Using my browser I navigated to http://your.forums.site/forums/install/upgrade.php substituting my actual website for 'your.forums.site' and when I do that it redirects me to http://your.forums.site/forums/admincp/ In other words it redirects me to my Admin Control Panel.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Give the post number as people will have posts per page set differently.

P.S.- Dont' forget to upload and replace all files in the upload/ folder. If you're on five I dunno why you are bumped to upgrade7 :p

On RC2, to stay on topic, I must say I'm glad, since in RC1, my admin cp wouldn't work in Mozi Firebird ^____^;;;;;

Can't wait until gold comes out ^_~ Keep up the good work ^.^

Is it possible to get a "status of RC2" update? Something along the lines of RC2 has X number of bugs reported, Y have been fixed, Z remain open and of the open bugs, W are awating user feedback.

Optionally, if you've made the decision, "based on the number of fixes and still-open bugs, we anticipate the next release being RC3, not a gold release" or "given that the fixes have been minor in nature, we anticipate the next release to be the final gold release."

Go to the vBulletin 3 Bug Tracker forum. Near the top on the left is a drop-down called "View Bugs With Status". That has the info you seek.

There has been no commitment by Jelsoft that the next release will be the final gold release. As they have stated before, the decision will be made by them based on the number and severity of bugs found in the previous release.

Please inform yourself of the facts before setting what might be unreasonable expectations.
