A while back now (2001) I purchased an owned license for VB for my web site, my web site address has now changed (so has the hosting company) and I am looking at re-installing VB.
However I am concerned that when I look at extending the member area access it merely states the license is for VB2, does this mean I won't be able to download the final (or any) version of VB3?

Access to the members area also grants you access to the latest development of vb3 :)

But does that also mean that when VB3 is released I will be able to download the gold version or am I just getting access to the testing phase?

Yes, anyone with access to the download area will be able to get the gold version when it's released.

my license doesn't mention the version number anywhere. It says :
"...this license has now been converted to an 'owned license', which will allow you to run the software on your server for an unlimited time. However, to continue getting upgrades for your software, you will have to annually renew access to the members area."

You don't have to renew access anually, you can pay the $30 whenever you like.
