eva empty your word and searchindex tables through phpMyAdmin then try it.

It holds the words indexed in the searchindex.

i see... well i haven't deleted them yet - the reindex is running okay for now - but usually kicks the bucket at the very last batch of posts to reindex

Whatever you guys did...I have not looked at code...you have really improved the search. I am getting a lot less meaningless hits.
