New threads only?

Hello,

I had a lot of trouble explaining this to the support guy, so forgive me if no one understands...

I've used vBulletin forums on many sites and see it as probably the best one around, but when I use the one on CGTalk.com (and this probably affects them all), I check the galleries forums each day and all I want to view are threads I've not seen before (new threads not new posts for each thread), but what the site does at the moment is sort the threads in order of the last post.

At the moment, if I use CGTalk.com as an example again, I have to remember in my head what threads I've already seen and those that I've not, which is a pain when there is a lot of posts to old threads and new threads mixed together. Does vBulletin have this option where you can sort by new thread (i.e. brand news topics) instead of last posts on each thread? I've already exchanged e-mails with the webmaster at this site and he says it's a really good idea and it would be very useful to me and probably others.

Hope someone understands that. :-)

Hello,

How easy is it to set up vBulletin on a web site? What do I need on my web space and what services do I need? How much space would I need for the software alone? How quick would it take from getting the forum software to having it up and running? Is there a discount for individuals purchasing the software (instead of companies)?

And how much maintenance is involved when you start off?

Just to add, do I need any programming knowledge, knowledge of PHP and MySQL etc or is the installation process very user-friendly?
