Hello there,
We are a group of people running a small technology forum
We are planning to upgrade to VBB finally. :) becoz of the extensive features and morever, due to the sponsors we found :)
we are currently running on forums.techarena.in
Question 1:
Is it possible to get all the threads from that board to vbb ?
Question 2:
We are planning to make a technology site which has, Reviews/ Articles / Downloads SEctions etc.
Wht version of Vbb (older 2.x) or ( newer 3.0x) has some free portals which can integrate with VBB easily.
This is the most important thing for our plan to upgrade for VBB :)
Question 3:
Can i Add most of the hacks/codes/etc. which are currently supported by this online Board. - phpbbfm http://phpbbfm.net/index.php
They have a portal system inbuilt on there boards.
Question 4:
Is there something more, which VBB can provide including above things, I am mainly looking from a portal kinda thing.
Expecting a prompt reply.
Thanking You,
Sandy...

1) Nope sorry.
2) You can integrate any webportal you want as long as you can code it. I integrated the userbase from vBulletin 2.3.x and PHP-Nuke
3) phpBB hacks won't work on vB sorry. However there are plenty of portal options over at http://www.vbulletin.org (http://www.vbulletin.org/)
4) You might consider trying vbportal. http://www.vbportal.com (http://www.vbportal.com/) (not backed by Jelsoft). I for one use PHP Nuke :)

vB 3.x.x (what you see now) is still in the Gamma state, RC should be out soon and then we will be allowed to release hacks on vBulletin.org (offical hacking site). So right now vBulletin.org only has hacks for the older versions (2.x.x, and 1.x.x). But there is a un-offical site for vB 3 hacks (vBulletin.nl), remember gamma was released today so all template mods/hacks on that site are probbly not worth installing right now, until they are updated for the gamma anyway.
As for intergration with vBulletin, there are tons of options out there. Many phpnuke/postnuke intergration hacks are at vBulletin.org. You could build a simple portal site with many homepage hacks for vBulletin (vBhome,vBindex,vBadcanced,MyvBindex) that will give you news/polls and other stuff all powered off your forums. If you go that way there are review/tut hacks at vBulletin.org to, and a download center hack.
My advice is the explor the resource sites and draw your own concullstion, altho you will not be able to download hacks/see source code before you buy, it will give you a detailed look at what vBulletin hacking is all about.
Here are the resource sites linked for you:
www.vbulletin.org - offical hacking site
www.vbulletintemplates.com - offical style modification site
www.vbulletin.nl - un-offical vB 3 beta hacking site

Jelsoft cannot officially recommend a product.
Josh gave you a few options (search at vbulletin.org or use vBPortal).
Jelsoft cannot help you install a product which is not their own (one, not their job; two, opens them to liablity if something goes wrong with the server, due to the third party software).
I don't see how he has not answered your questions, when you quoted his answers. If you need more specific answers, please ask more specific questions.

That still doesn't make any sense...its like an oxymoron.
vB = vBulletin and not vB != vBulletin

There are more important things to do then correct people that choose to say vbb, I used to do it to, because I used to use ubb and we always called it vbb over there back in the early days. It is a misteak people will always make, ignore it.

Which is why he said it was just a side note. Of course now that this thread has been hijacked into a vB vs. vBB thread, I'd like to say that it is vB and not vb and not VB and not VBB

And, now we can return to the topic, before Samdy is completely scared away. ;)
