View Full Version : mysql limits??

I'm considering trying a switch to vb again when 2.0 is out of beta. I'm concerned about the limits of mysql though.

I'm willing to throw a lot of hardware at it. The database server I'm looking at is a quad 700mhz PIII with 4 gig of ram.

I'm up to about 250 - 260,000 page views per day. I have no idea of the number of concurrent users. Traffic is growing and I want to be sure that I can handle current traffic as well as future traffic.

Can mysql handle this? Should I wait until a Sybase version is available?

That database server would be good :)
Infact... wanna buy me one? :)

hehe.

The LUNA program pays for it. It's by far the best banner network that I've found.

So you think that mysql won't be hitting any limits? I'm not so worried about the hardware as I am about software limitations.

What happens if there isn't a sybase version available by the time my traffic is up to 350,000 page views per day? Will mysql die at that point?

I really want to move to vb if it's going to handle the load.

Ah, my current server, Dual PIII 600, and 1 gig of ram is averaging 313,669 pageviews a day.

It is also running Mysql on the same box. It's just now starting to croak, so I think your box will suffice quite well. ;)

How many of those page views are in the forums. The load I mention above is strictly forum page views.

I took a look at the site in your profile and didn't see the forums. Could you provide me a link please.

Thanks.

Ahhh, strictly forums. My bad, that was my servers total traffic via all sites. I must say that I had to finally move the forum data to a seperate box and upgrade to 3.23.33 to save my server. If you wish to still see one of my forums, go here:
