View Full Version : UBB Import Problems

Well I downloaded 1.1.2 and imported all my UBB stuff and the index.php file doesn't list the last poster correctly and it messed up a lot of my messages in the order they were posted.
I had posted last in a thread and it put me as the first one and the guy that posted first was listed as second. This happened in most of the forums.
The last one to post in the thread was another member than it showed in the index.php page and was someone that didn't even post in this thread.
This works fine in the forumdisplay.php page. The last poster is listed correctly.

Ditto, fresh isntall 1.1.2!!!
Looks like a time calculation thing, especially the date. Some posts are marked a day previous then actually, so that causes the miss import. Also, the times are wrong as well.
This is pretty big, it is stopping me from moving over to the vb!

I had this problem with 1.1.1 but John said he'd fixed it in the later version which seems to me to be correct. My only problem is that I don't have enough RAM to complete the import with 1.1.2 - worked fine before :( grrr!
A tip which bira suggested (doesn't affect me as i'm running with a time offset of 0) - try closing your UBB, setting the time offset to 0 and then rebuilding threads. Might help ?

upon 2nd trial to import a forum, the "last poster" on the main page was correct.
However, it did not correct the bad dates on posts. The times was my bad, I changed my offset.
An example - a post made orignally on the UBB on the 17 September 1999 at 12:45 PM was converted into 17th September 1999 00:45 on my vB.
Looks like a 12 AM/PM confusion!

the index.html page is there as an "accessory" for those who have index.html as the default dir access page. If you have configured index.php as an access page then you can delete those two index pages without a shred of a worry. Those are just helpful pages for website owners who cannot change the configuration of their server, or are not knowledgeable enough to know how to do redirect.
And John, if I explained this right, can I have a job in jelsoft? ;)

The only way I've found the posts to be imported with the correct times (and hence the correct order), was when UBB was set to 0 timezone offset, and so was vB. Any other combination and some havoc was caused :)

The timezone offset on my UBB is 0 but it is CST instead of the default EST with vBulletin.
Do you think that I should set up the board, set the variables in the control panel and then try importing all?

I tried, set both to the same offset (0) and ET, as well as same date format (extended european), and I get the same problem still!

actually, the only bug I see is this:
UBB: 17 September 1999 at 12:45 PM
VB after conversion: 17th September 1999 00:45
12:45 pm means on the UBB 15 mintues before 18 September.

How does 12:45 PM on the 17th become 15 mins before 18 September? Surely It is 23 hours, 15 mins before 18 September?

that is identical times, doron. You just have a different time format on each board :)

12:45 AM is 00:45
12:45 PM would be 12:45

Ok, sorry. I'm not American. All your measurements and time signs are really confusing! :)
