Were all the !!!!!!!!!!!!!! necessary in the subject? (FYI: It makes some of us have to scroll to the right on our browser because of the long subject :))

I have found that punctuation marks can be used to show exponential growth of, well whatever the punctuation denotes.

Example...

.... = .^4 the more periods you add the greater the the pause.

! = !^1, not much explanation

translated: "I have a question that is keeping me from doing my job and it bugs me."

!! = !^2, a little more but the boss wants it done NOW

and so forth up to

!!!!!!!!!! = !^10, in this case it means:

"Oh my God, I'm dieing. If this problem isn't fixed by the next person to read this message I'm done for!"

So by adding the excessive amount of '!' he was showing this was a really terrible problem that was a life or death situation.

However, to me one '!' doesn't show any more grammatical emphesis then multiple '!'.
