Problem with Step 3

I at first figured the login/pass for config.php was for making a root account on the messageboard, but I have also tried using the l/p for access to FTP and SiteAdmin functions on my site and I am /still/ getting the following error:

I don't know that much about my host's hardware/software/etc, but they say they support both PHP and MySQL, and even reccomended this software to me.

What am I doing wrong?

But I'm using the same proper login/pass that my I use to log onto my host. And it's still doing this.

Did they create an MySQL account for you? Did they create a db for you? Did you ask host for MySQL info?

I guess this is what happens when I attempt to use techologies I don't understand. :(
