Hey guys, I had someone join up on my site today under the user name "asdf" which I didn't think to much of today. But this evening I got board and started looking around the forum pages here at vb and noticed this guy has joined up on other forums here. I'm getting a bad vibe off this, takes me back to the time when so many of us got hit with porn spam. Anyone else have this person as a new member? Am I being paranoid? I am considering getting rid of them before they have time to start any problems, if that is indeed what they are up to.

After all, it is just part of the keyboard home row.

I would just say it's someone who coudn't think of a good username - so they just hit the keys on their keyboard...

I woudn't think twice about it.

*shrug*

If you have any features that are exclusively members only (like attachments, memberlists, galleries, etc), then sometimes a user may register a "throwaway" username just to be able to access them ... they usually don't stick around long after getting what they registered for ...

asdf is a common "alias" "handle" "Nic" used when someone is just signing up for no real purpose, or even to spam or even just be a dick pretty much.

I would personally disable the account by simply changing the password, email the person and tell them, if they want to be a part of the forums, at least take the time to use a valid username..
