Ok here is a problem I have been living with for a long time.

I have a Compaq with 1 gig Ram. I leave it on all the time. I am running Windows XP Home Ed.

After a few days I have to reboot it because it gives me a "Out of memeory" error when I try to copy something to the clip board.

I ran memtyrbo and a few other memeory managers and they are absolute junk. Yes they clear memeory but XP is too stupid to notice.

I also have a Dell running XP but never gives me this problem and it is on all the time too.

Anyone know how to fix this?

You have a memory leak. Something is installed on that computer that is allocating memory and not releasing it, it continues to take more and more.

Those memory cleaners do not work, once you use anything it goes ack to taking up the memory it had. The end result is no usable ram is freed

You should open task manager and look at what process is using a little RAM then takes more and more, even though you are not using it anymore.

Maybe it's a virus. Try running a virus scan (please tell me you have a scanner!). I had one that took memory and HD space...and I thought I was going crazy, until I figured out what it was.

Why, because its so damn important to check for a virus that you know you dont have?

Dont like the look of a EXE, dont open the file.

Might wanna check your startup proggies ... disable unnecessary ones (use msconfig) ...
