Is it just me or is everyone else having loads of problems and is really pi**ed off? I'm really annoyed, everything I do seems to go wrong. The server, it had some type of faulty hard drive, that was 5 days downtime or more, with a load of problems and stress on top. Now, I get the new HDD, it's running RH 7.2 and it didn't have cPanel installed. I proceed, install RH 9 and reboot - It doesn't boot, that's another hour downtime. Ok, then I install cPanel, yippee all went great. Set everything up, uploaded all the sites - Subdomains won't work. Suddenly, it goes down...Luckily I'm still in SSH and can mess around, I tried su -, it says user root cannot be found, I try whoami, it says cannot find your username. I decide I'll try a reboot, I type reboot and it all seems to reboot fine. Then no services appear to start, yeah I can ping fine but can't access SSH, apache, or anything else. I've rang them twice, no luck. I've been talking on IRC, no luck. I'M STRESSED!!

Ah, this sucks. I just called cust serv asking to be transfered to the datacenter. They said ok and transfered me to SALES! I asked them to transfer me to the datacenter, they said they couldn't and cut me off.

Who did you get the Server from ?
If your not stuck with it I would recommend NACSTER

IMO, rackshack are great.
obviously, some people have more problems than others.
personally, I like them because of the price.. i have zero need for a managed service

Exactly my thoughts.
@f-a_org: Don't recommend nocster! I went with them and they say the servers are managed but it's sorta half-assed management since they take a while to do things, and also the network stability is weak, very weak. Albeit the server I had was great, and powerful, and worked well, but the network got so tedious and laggy that I had to leave, and I moved to Rackshack :). Great times.

This time, for everyone's sake, stay out of SSH and stick to WHM :p. Leave cPanel and redhat alone! :p

Ive had no problems with Rackshack, though i havent upgraded to RH9 because of no need, i upgrade kernal and other main services from source when i first got the machine, and upgrade every so often (cept kernal)..

You shouldnt need to reboot. I just regularly kill -KILL <PID> of certain processes and restart them, or if its mysql/apache/named/other that has a script to do it,
apachectl graceful, /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql restart, /etc..../named restart, etc..
(I got an ENSIM box which i promptly removed ensim, i like total control over my services :))
