About the key-buffer. I started at 16 MB but which this, it was really slow...

you buffers are set too high and you have mysql logging enabled which will slow your server to a crawl

the mysql variable from mysqladmin variable command shows you have set max_connections = 100 which is the default mysql setting for new mysql installs... it's probably too low for you and when your mysql usage hits 100 mysql concurrent connections (NOT the same as vB users online) you will get too many connections error message

my recommended my.cnf should fix that.. after you restart mysql with my recommended settings

also can you post the output you get from this command in ssh telnet as root user

I dont know how the key buffer affects vb specifically but why not raise the key buffer on any of these optimizations?

I dont know how the key buffer affects vb specifically but why not raise the key buffer on any of these optimizations?
cause it most cases if any vB client's server hit their max_connection setting they'd run out of memory very quickly... just being cautious

ah ok...i used the above file but lowered the max connections...and i may lower it a bit more....my server is not as powerful as the one listed above.
