I recently bought my own deciated server for my sites. All of my sites are coded to run off the vb boards on my site. Similiar to the hack vbhome. My question is, if I want to move some of those sites, without moving the boards and the database, can I still have my sites connect to the database to pull the latest threads and news posts? Even though they are not on the same server? If it is possible, can someone please tell me what I would need to do in order to do that?
Thank you :)

I dont understand, you are moving the website and not the boards? You are moving the website and database? I am confussed. Yes your website can reside in one location and boards in another and even the database in another as long as there are proper dns identifiers to get you to the location. For example, I have a website that is host by Yahoo. All of the website is located located on Yahoo's servers except my forum which I host at another location.
Hope this helps a little and if you can clear up what it is exactly that you want to do I can try and help.
Thanks

My sites are completely dependent on the vb database (the boards), the sites have things like latest threads and all that is pulled from the boards database. If I move those sites, will I still be able to connect to the database and display that information even though the database is not on the server with the sites.
so my question is, can I have a site pull information from a database that is not on the server with it? I hope thats more clear.

Yes you can emma...just make sure that the fully qualified dns name is in the database location line of the script and that the computer where the database is located allows communication on the correct port for your database.
