Change from "P Connect" to "Normal Connect"...how do I do it?

Hi, I called my host about the common "too many connections" problem, and he said that their database default is "p connect", and it keeps the database running constantly, which opts for lower visitors. The server admin said to change it to "normal connect". They don't offer support on the databases, and I was told to go to mysql.org, and all I get is a blank white page.

What are the Telnet commands to change my database from "p connect" to "normal connect"???

In the admin directory, I believe the file is called db_mysq.php. Do a search for "pconnect" and just remove the p.
