Ok. Can it be done? Is there a converter out there? I am running an Ikonboard now with 133 users and I want to go to vbulletin. Is there ANY way of converting these users. I cant lose them.

Not just the userbase...but the message base as well. 1850 posts that I dont want to lose.

I don't believe there is an import script for Ikonboard yet!
There will be additional import scripts that will be developed after 2.0 is released, but I am unsure if Ikonboard will be one of them or not. :)

So I would have to do the userbase conversion manually and lose all 1850+ posts? Not good. Dont think I can do that...

No it means you would have to wait a little while after version 2.0 is released so that an import script could be written.
Maybe since you already have the Ikonboard script, you could coordinate with one of the developers after the release and be the first to use the script...

This is one thing I am definitly planning on jumping on after 2.0 is out and released. I would think Ikonboard would be on the list, since it is one of the other popular systems out there.

Excellent! And, bearing in mind the co-branding system and the affiliate forum opportunities it presents, will these import scripts be able to easily import other site's forums into an already existing vB forum ? :)

yeah with craig on this ;)
One thing that would be really cool would be an ezboard import. Now i know this would be hard, my guess is that you would not be able to import members if this info is not public so instead just import all the posts under one username (i used archiver when i did it manually) but have the username at the top of the post. Would be cool if it could be done.

This would be easy to do..
It would require two new fields for the import script forums...
Member Offset and Thread Offset. The person doing the importing should be able to enter these values in and all imports start at those numbers. Simple.

Well, I couldnt wait to get the new board running...I have a lot of users complaining about Ikonboards MANY bugs...
So..I did it manually and it sucked. But I would lend my services for testing and etc for Ikonboard conversion scripts. If you want I will go ahead and keep my current Ikonboard userbase to test the conversions...

CODE (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15652)
Modifying this code may do the job. There is also one to convert the threads and posts.

The UBB6 import system I am working on is very modular, enabling us to plug-in different interpreters and have them be imported... more later.

Very interesting for the future, no doubt.
However, and without sounding pushy. 2-3 weeks may be to late for me.
I have to make a decision now, Ikonboard does not serve all my needs and that was the reason I looked into Vbulletin in the first place. I have currently 14 active message boards, but without an immediate import script I cannot consider moving. My clients will not allow me to. More than half of my boards are on UBB, which I am not happy at all with. The idea was to move everything to one piece of software.
Ikonboard 3 sounded like a good alternative but since they are taking so long to get it released, I had to look at another alternative. Vbulletin looked the best, so I bought just one license to check it out in detail.
The way things stand and If I have to wait 2-3 weeks, I might just wait a bit longer and stick with Ikonboard.
If I had all the time in the world, would definitely move all the forums to Vbulletin unless something better got released before then.
The way the net is going and with so much competition around, people don't want to hear promisees, the want things there and then.

I was hoping someone could enlighten me on this. All I wanted was either an approximate date or help with creating a script for this.
I'm sorry to say, Vbulleting is excellent software but this community is no were near as helpful as Ikonboard. At least that is the first impression I'm getting as a newbie. My boss e-mailed for support twice and just got a very conservative answer.
IMPO, we have just wasted money and time on a useless piece of software, yes it's great but will not serve our purpose. I'll just stick with what I know and in the future be more careful when buying promisses instead of reality.
Good bye and thanks for nothing.

buying promises? I've read the site several times I never saw it promised anywhere that there would even be an ikonboard conversion, let alone a date on when it would be released. This product isn't even in stable release yet, so I think you're premature in fussing about the lack of import scripts.
As for conservative answers, they are the best kind to give in software development areas. If you give absolute firm numbers and miss the deadlines you piss people off, which is why uou give conservative estimates instead, that way you give yourself a little leeway.
I'm sorry if you feel you wasted your money, but it would have been better had you asked about the import capabilities prior to spending your money.

You are right, I owe you all an apology.
My post was completely out of line and I wrote it while very frustrated.
