Some members of our community and I are having a bit of a debate........ so I will come straight to the source for the answers. Is it possible to have more posts in a thread than thread views?

If I have 500 posts and only 200 views on it for example?
A few of us Board owners seem to be being hit with Bots and I am trying to combat this.

Thanks for any help you have on this.

Gavin.

I would guess it's technically possible, but pretty unlikely ;) ie, you could link directly to the reply page and cancel the redirect back to the thread. Apart from that (and your forum is running normally) I wouldn't think it's possible ;)

What does is have to do with search engine 'bots though? They don't reply to threads AFAIK :p

I am not talking about search engine bots, I am talking about posting bots. I am familiar with the SE Bots, but this is not what I am having a problem with. I am having a problem with people making bots to post on many boards at once thru a script, boosting post counts and so on.

THANK you for your help. You have helped me alot. :)

Are you running vB3? vB3 has the option to increase thread views at a specific time.

Not on this particular forum, no. I am still using the 2.3.2 , haven't gone to 3.0 yet on this one. ;)

It's possible with a posting form that does not redirect to the thread afterwards.

Ok, can a user disable this? Or is this an admin only thing? I know I can, as an admin, do this... but I am more interested in what THEY can do. I was told that this can be done in IE? But I am not real sure on tihs. It's confusing to me..... but I appreciate the help. :D
