I'm crackin' up. I just tested the uptime and load averages on our new dedicated server. Now I know that our gals aren't all on the boards right now, but the load average cracked me up. (18 users on one VB and 3 on the other on this server.)

10:56pm up 2 days, 11:29, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

It looks like you will be ok! ;)

And this morning with 64 on the boards,

8:25am up 2 days, 20:58, 1 user, load average: 0.09, 0.04, 0.01

What a relief it is to not see load averages of 7 and 8. <whew>

Another question here, too, if someone knows. We ordered a single processor machine but top is showing a CPU0 and a CPU1. That's dual processors, isn't it? Here's top:
8:29am up 2 days, 21:02, 1 user, load average: 0.15, 0.07, 0.02
86 processes: 85 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU0 states: 0.4% user, 2.0% system, 0.0% nice, 97.0% idle
CPU1 states: 1.2% user, 0.5% system, 0.0% nice, 97.2% idle
Mem: 517032K av, 457816K used, 59216K free, 99680K shrd, 268228K buff
Swap: 265032K av, 0K used, 265032K free 112432K cached

Looks like you've got yourself two CPUs for the price of one. Don't tell your host ;)

I am not a total expert, but I would be pretty certain that you have two processors.

cat /proc/cpuinfo

Type that at the telnet prompt, if it shows 2 outputs you have 2. It will also tell you the speed they are.

Thanks Shak...there are 2....both Intel PIII (coppermine) 801.834 mhz processors. WOW....looks like we got a DEAL! No wonder the load averages are so low. :)
