OK, this vBulletin board is sounding (and looking) better and better. It really seems like much more than a forum with the private messaging and all.

I currently use the Ultimate Bulletin Board.

Would anyone care to compare this board with UBB?

Maybe some of you are familiar with both boards and could give me pros and cons to switching to vBulletin board.

Thanks!

I would type out a long message with all of the positive aspects of vbulletin (not many negatives compared to the UBB to point out), but it has already been discussed in length many times!

I would try the search first, then ask some specifics after reviewing what has already been stated. :)

If you have a web host that has PHP/MYSQL then I ask why you are still running UBB?

Gee, I read some threads here asking that we not bash UBB. I sure am sorry and I am not trying to bash UBB. I have been using UBB for a couple years now and for the most part I really like it.

Its just that UBB doesn't seem to be very quick in adding new features and their prices have gone out of my league.

I could just continue to run my UBB 5.47 but I was hoping to give my users something a little more ya know?

And before I go switching, I want to make sure I only switch ONE TIME, and that is why I am asking for feedback.

One thing I am not sure about with vBulletin is the whole template thing can anyone explain that in a sentence or two?

Templates are snippets of HTML code stored in the database that build your pages. They range from small bits with one or two words to page skeletons that vBulletin uses to display everything you see.

ya know i am a old one of ubb too i have use it a long time and i learn perl cause the original code stink and when you want to add some features its a pain in the ( you know) i not telling that vb is better for that you have to edit the whole thing like ubb but its much more simple and understandable the code is clear and structured so its a easy thing to update and upgrade :)

This is my opinion its can't be associate and its not reflect in any way to Vbulletin owner builder and anyone who work there ;)

this is a discharge :)

does its call like this in english or its something else ??

I owned and ran the UBB for my forum software for over a year, and I can say without a doubt that vbulletin is FAR better in almost every way!

The template system is far better than the UBB's way, and it allows you to fully customize your forum without ever touching the code! Also, the admin features allow for a lot more power!

The code is far better optimized and less "speghetti" code than the UBB's.

You really will not be disappointed! :)
