How about extending the ability to set custom templates for each forum, and allow custom templates per category. By this, I'd like to be able to customize the individual category view (entered by clicking the category name in the index layout).

Also, I don't see the basic ability to set specific styles per forum -- which seems rather odd considering you have custom-template support.

Forum display template - Alternative template to the 'forumdisplay' template. More information about templates is available in the template section.

You can also specify custom templates for Forum bit,Thread display, Thread bit, Reply, New thread, and Edit

No, I think you're missing the point.

To be able to "styleize" specific categories, as well as the forums within them. I know you can set custom templates for forums (what about colors(?)), but I'd ike to see custom templates and custom colors for a specific category index.

At the moment custom template support for forums is somewhat of an afterthought. I am looking to strengthen template support even more in future versions, including complete co-branding support in the future. I'm not exactly sure how this will work, but it will happen.

As for colours, the way that I would recommend you do this is:
Add a new {myforumfirstaltcolor} replacement in the replacements area of the control panel. Then in the custom forum templates, replace {firstaltcolor} with {myforumfirstaltcolor}, and for all the other colors and fonts that you want.

How about a system where you create style settings that can be applied to more than one board. Then, you just change one "sheet" and all forums are updated to use the new settings. It works great, and that way you could slap custom colors on everything from categories, forums, to even profile/register/search pages.
