I just cancelled my subscription to hostrocket because my site was always having problems or going down. Now I'm considering re-installing with another host company one that preferably offers domain names also.

Any suggestions?

I use ventures online, but I won't buy a domain off them, it is best to go elsewhere for your domain name, that way if you part on bad terms with your host, they cannot hold your domain name to ransom.

I was just in the hosting testimonials forum - I think ventures would probably also be too expensive for me right now. I read about 5 good reports on F5 hosting and am thinking about going with them.

I have to agree with poolking, if you are going to register domains then it is best to do it elsewhere so your domain is not held on cancellation.

There is always NameCheap.com (accepts PayPal & CC) and GoDaddy.com (Accepts Mail-in & CC).

From a long time user of F5 I give them a big thumbs up. They know vbulletin in and out and your site will run smooth like silk. Good fast servers, plus great customer service. :)

Cheers

I left F5 about 16 months ago due to constant problems with the server I was on. Credit to them though - they were good, but at the time I needed my site running all the time - and to be fair, my site was bigger than the account was designed for.

If F5 have sorted out the server load issues, they are certainly worth a look.

I am currently with Venturesonline and I can't complain at all. Very happy with the service.

I jumped around from host to host for three years and finally found one that met all my expectations in ValueWeb.

I have had shared hosting with them and now have a dedicated server through them. The reliability, customer service, features and tech support are all top notch.

I use AlwaysWebHosting. I have been with them since October of last year and I love it. The support is great and my site loads quickly. ^_^

I've been with AMS for quite sometime now, and I am very pleased with their service. They offer some great rates with wonderful support... they even installed mod-perl for me upon request, and has helped me with other stuff in the past too! Very supportive, friendly, and professional.

I looked at their site and it looks like they have some good deals - but... Couldn't find a phone number to call for info anywhere. That always scares me, but I want a 24/7/365 phone number for tech support as a minimum.

While we do not offer actual phone support, we do offer:

AIM & MSN Online Support, E-Mail Support, Support Tickets, Support Forum, and an Emergency Pager that not only notifies us when servers are down, customers can page us to notify us as well, should Nagios (a very well known and used server monitoring tool) fail.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. We do have plans to bring in a phone line, though we currently have not had a need as all of our customers have been perfectly happy with the current service as well as the current support methods.

I do FULLY understand your concerns though, something that should be kept in mind, but I think our customer statements speak for us as well as our service that we offer :).

So far www.PDWebs.com has excellent customer service and support, fast servers and super good pricing. They KICK THE CRAP out of the loser host I used to use.

Watch out for this croud. I was with them for 2 months, but my site, while totally in the parametres of the hosting that was offered, got kicked off because of "execessive bandwidth usage".

Ronnie, imo, was a crook.
