In plain text e-mails sent by vBulletin, & has been changed to &. This is an error; it breaks links in those e-mails. Only HTML text should use &.
To illustrate the problem, I tried creating a new user on my forums, and got an e-mail containing this back:
To complete your registration, click on the link below:
http://.../register.php?a=act&u=2&i=31324072 (http://.../register.php?a=act&u=2&i=31324072)
When I click that link, I get this error:
No user specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster
If I change & back to &, it works.

In case I wasn't clear enough: It's impossible for new users to create accounts with vBulletin 2.3.1 unless they edit the activation URL they are given.
The same URL issues apply to the "Reply to post" subscription e-mails. Links like http://.../member2.php?action=usub&threadid=1 no longer work ("No forum specified").

I can't help but notice that this wasn't moved to the Bugs forum, while other less significant issues were. :) I hope it doesn't get overlooked. It prevents new users from signing up (the activation URLs don't work), which seems extremely critical to me.

If you read the additional annoucement it will tell you why there are problems.

Uh... The announcement is obviously referring to the CVS conflict junk left over in attachment.php and global.php. This is something different.

The other issues were confirmed by more than one person.

The other issues were confirmed by more than one person. I see. Well, I used Outlook Express 6 as my e-mail client in case that's helpful to know when trying to reproduce the problem. Simply register a new account on a vBulletin 2.3.1 forum, open Outlook Express and click the link in the received "Action Required to Activate Membership" e-mail message, and you'll get an error message every time.
Basically, the & -> & changes in 2.3.1's email_* templates need to be reverted.

Ok, I had some time to test this out and confirmed the problem. Moved to Bugs.
However please note that Scott's post said nothing about 'attachment.php and global.php':

So what's the story with this? Is this issue resolved?
