I'm soon going to be moving to vBulletin from Woltlab's Burning Board v2.1 software and have a few questions that I hope someone can answer for me!

1. Is there an official or unofficial data converter for moving from Burning Board v2.1 to vBulletin?

2. As this will be my first vBulletin installation would it be worth installing v3.0 beta 5 rather than the older v2.3.0? As it seems that this beta is quite stable but I guess as it so new then things like hacks, skins etc will be quite thin on the ground for this version. Does anyone have any details of the additional features and changes between v2.3.0 and v3.0 beta 5 that might help me make a decision regarding this?

I look forward to your replies everyone!

Since version 3 is in beta, I don't think there is any importer script ready for it yet.

You are best to install the 2.3.0 (or 2.3.1 soon) and import (if possible) from your current software to vbulletin. Then upgrade to 3.0.0 beta 5.

Yeah, I find it running stable enough for a live site, but it depends on your site and if you want to risk running into a unforseen bug.

Beta 5 seems pretty stable, since beta 4, about 175 bugs were fixed.

We do not currently have an official import script for Burning Board, for either vB2 or vB3. You may wish to run a search on vbulletin.org to see if there is an unsupported one available there.

If you are able to find one you will likely need to import into vB2 and then upgrade from there.
