Due to the imminent co-branding feature, and the attitude of Infopoop, one of the major motorsport sites running UBB has contacted me with the idea of merging our efforts. Can anyone confirm whether or not it is possible to import their UBB forums into our existing vB forum ?
If so, would I use the standard import script without alteration, or would I need to commission someone to hack it ? Would there be any associated problems in importing this data ? For example, what would happen if there were a user on the forum i'm importing with the same username as someone on our own forums ?
Help please! :)

aaaaaaaah
Hmmmmmmm
Yes it is possible to import more than 1 UBB into 1 vB forum.
Now about users with the same username... I think if it comes across one that is already in vB it will skip it.
Not 100% sure tho
I could test if for you....

Any help sure would be appreciated, but maybe someone 'on the inside' could comment as they will know the workings of the import script in vB 2.0...?
Thanks for your help :)

The import script for v2 is virtually the same as v1. The import should work, although users with the same names *will* be a problem. One new user will be created with the posts from both the old users. Also, you may have to import each forum individually for the second import.

Thanks John. I guess it should create this new member with a unique number though ? So i'd just need to go through manually afterwards, amend their username in the admin panel, and inform them of the change ? This amended username should then show against all their posts, yes ? Shouldn't be a huge problem.
I wonder though if anyone has done this kind of import before though and has any tips they wish to share ? :)
