I plan on opening up a free speech political forum (nothing illegal) so I am looking around for a free speech host or at least a host with a tolerant Acceptable Use Policy. I do not plan on having anything like pornography on my website. I just do not want someone net nannying my forum. Here are some examples

1. . . .Utilize the Services in any manner that might subject Concord Hosting to unfavorable regulatory action, subject Concord Hosting to any liability for any reason, or adversely affect Concord Hosting public image, reputation or goodwill, including, without limitation, sending or distributing sexually explicit, hateful, vulgar, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable materials as determined by Concord Hosting in its sole discretion. . .

2. You may not use your account to publish material, which The Forum Host / Shell-Hosting determines, at its sole discretion, to be unlawful, indecent or objectionable.

"Hateful" and "Objectionable" can be construed to mean anything really. Are there any hosts not like this?

Search for some racist web sites, they are hosted by hosting companies that hide behind this freedom of speech thing and allow 'a lot'.

You might look at some of the hosts that host porn sites also.

The VPSes on Venturesonline have pretty liberal requirements.

I went through a similar issue when I was trying to find hosting because one of the reasons my board exists is because we broke off from another board that started to censor the users. I considered a lot of different provides and went with Ventures because they don't have many limitations on either the VPS or the dedicated server. They do have them on the shared servers though.

I didn't want to go with any of the hate groups, I just didn't want to give them my business. Same thing for the porn hosts. But a lot of those hosts (the porn ones) seem quite good. I can't speak to how the hate groups actually run their companies though, I have no clue.

Generally I have noticed many companies are much more liberal with their dedicated hosting than they are with their shared hosting, as I mentioned with VOL.

My board can get pretty out there with both the political discussion and discussion about sex. Political especially can get pretty riled up with people taking extreme views just to take them (we are a bunch of lawyers after all ;) ) It is at www.lawtalkers.com
