Ok, hopefully I'm not just being a blind idiot here.
I have set up my board so that the "(COPPA) Users Awaiting Moderation", "Unregistered / Not Logged In" and "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" user groups have no permissions to do anything...not even view the board.
I have also edited the "error_nopermission" and "fivelinks" templates so that there are no registration links anywhere. The purpose for doing all of this was to have a private board where registration is by member referral only, and at the same time, use the existing templates to create a forced login and non-member-blocker. I have also completely disabled (via templates) COPPA registration (I am aware that there's an OPTIONS setting for this, but I wanted an explanation to be displayed).
Everything seems to work perfectly...yet I see in the online users list that there are still the occasional "Guests" on the board!
How is this possible if only the various levels of registered member groups have permission to access the board???
If I'm being dense here, feel free to staple your solution to a 2x4 and whack me on the forehead with it.
