View Full Version : Fantasy idea...

Myself and one of my co-administrators at TAC are planning on opening another site, this one about Fantasy books of all kinds, such as The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, First Wizard's rule, etc.
Anyway, I am going to be doing most of the design. Most likely it will contain an "ancient" kind of feel, like earth type colors, rock, swords, etc.
What do you think of that kind of look? Also, we are in need of a domain, if you have any ideas... it has to have fantasy in it, though.
I've tried fantasyonline.com, fantasyfans.com, fantasyfanatic.com, and fantasyfanatics.com. Besides these being taken, they are also unoriginal. Any ideas?

The color scheme sounds good.
As for a domain, I own WritersClub.Com

Have you tried fantasybooks.com if it is available?

Yes, it's taken.... now I'm trying to decide between blue colors, or green colors, or darker like black and blue with white text...

Don't go to dark, it will keep older people (30 and up) away...
Something in the navy blue would be ok I'd say.

I love the Sword of Truth series, you can expect me to be a regular visitor! If you need help, be sure to ask :)
I would believe the name should also provide a ancient sort of feeling, nothing like fantasymania, or fantasyfanatic. EWWWW :p

Thank you very much Erwin, I'll talk to my co-admin about that one:) Simple, and easy.
Arunan.S, I'm on the Stone of Tears, it's a great series indeed:) I'll also probably work on the colors and layout tomorrow, my co-admin Bram is the bigger fantasy fanatic than me.

If you'll be covering Wheel of Time, Shanarra, Deathgate CYcle, Dragonlance, Sword of Truth, Farseer trilgy, Covenant chronicles and tad william's stuff, you can probably count me as a regular visitor ;)

I had read the first trilogy many years ago and decided to reread it. After finishing it I bought the next three books and jumped right into them. As good as the first series was, I thought the second one was even better. I was sad to reach the end and realize there was no more of 'The Land' to look forward to.

Okay....
The first kind of content we're looking for is a decent list of fantasy books along with a plot/book description and descriptions of all the main characters.

Funds can be added with a store with books, action figures, etc...Amazon.com recently updated the way you can create a store on your site using their products and their checkout.
Just an idea for you as you work towards how to add some funds to the project.....
Sounds like a great idea!

Glad to be able to help with the domain name. ;) It's a good name - I'm surprised no one else thought of it.
Any David Gemmell books would be great for me. Drenai Tales... I love 'em. :)

PM me when you're ready, and I will change the domain name details over to you, then you can get your current registrar to transfer it over to you.
Or I can make a new eNom account for you, and push the domain name into your account. Whatever is suitable.
Next time, register a domain name immediately, as there are many lurkers here - you don't want someone to register it and sell it to you for a ridiculous price. :)

Hey will "A Song of Fire and Ice" series be part of your site. That is my favourite series yet. I urge every single person into fantasy books to catch them, I got 3 books of the series, its something that does not follow your average map of writing, your hero will beheaded, your villain will become victorious in some battles its just great!

Every fantasy book can be discussed, I am not sure though what ones we will target specifically. Lord of the Rings for sure, dunno about any others.
