Hi Guys, my forum has begun to bog down.

I am on NT PII

Things were great for a while, but useres are telling me its very slow now.

How do I clean up old posts?

Purge?

Also does anyone here run NT .I need a pal :-)

P.S. I am on V. 1.5

Thanks!

You should not need to prune!

Has anything changed with your forum? More users? More posts per day?

You should probably post your server specs, mysql/php version, and mysql variable settings! :)

How much ram do you have on the server?

Is this a shared server?

It is seeming very slow to me, but it may be because other sites using a shared mysql server (if it is a shared environment) are using up your mysql resources!

Alright, I just went around your site a little, and *every* page in your site was VERY slow, not just the forum.

I am not so sure the forum is slow, it seems like your whole site/server is slow. ;)

Ram: 128 mb

This is the only site (5 low traffic sites) on the machine using MySql.

Maybe when I upgrade to 2.0 things will be better?

Like I stated earlier, it may not be your mysql that is so slow, it my be your site/server!

I would check to see what is causing that and then you may find the problem with your slowdown.

Has the server been re-booted in a while?
Maybe one of the other five sites is hogging all the resources?

Have the other sites compained of slowdowns lately?

It is just that it took a while to pull up even your static pages, and that leads me to believe that it *MAY* not be your mysql. ;)

I just saw that you listed 128MB of ram! That is very low for any database application, and I cannot believe that it is a shared server with only 128MB of ram! :(

Yup 128.. Your right about the whole site being slow... Somthing is teribbly wrong..

Weird because the server is not over loaded..
I am looking at the monitor now.. fine.. everything is normal.

Oh Boy.. My site finally starts to get some recognition..and its acting funny.

werehere.. thanks for you help !

Do you think i should give it a good pruning anyway?

Unlike UBB pruning isnt needed with vB (I know of a few vB's with over 1,000,000 posts, one with 1.6Million). My reccomendation would be upgrade the RAM, 256meg would do wonders for your server.

I hear that!

Strange but.. things appear fine here.

Do you run your biker foru, on it's own server?
Is it NT?

Nah, its on a $25 a month virtual account, its good for upto 30 concurrent users, once i hit 30+, it bogs down or gives a mysql error (too many connections).
