You (both) probably want to know how to build up these strings which preg_replace() (and ereg(), ereg_replace(), etc) uses.

Search for "Regular Expressions", this is how it's called or "regex" for short.
Best search string is probably "POSIX Regular Expression tutorial".
try it, you're bound to find something usefull.
