new threads from old posts

Here's the deal... let's say someone replies to a thread but it's a little off-topic from the thread it's posted in and deserves to have it's own thread. Is there any way I could take a specific post in one thread and create a new thread out of it? Can I do this in 1.1.5 and/or will it be an option in 2.0? Thanks:)

This is a standard feature in v2, called "Split Threads" ... you can see the admin link in the bottom right hand corner of this page. There is also another feature called "Merge Threads" where you can combine two threads that are on the same subject (i havent seen this in action yet).
