So now we got vB 2.0 I would like to ask again for a Laguage specific forum.

I would like to have a main forum called :
Laguage specific forum support

and in this forum we find a lot of subforums like:

german
spanish
french
...

So the language specific user question could be discussed in this subforums.

I will offer myself for the german Support forum :D

Please think about it and make it possible for us non perfectly english speaking user...

Yes, a german support forum would be great. It it much easier to answer questions in the own language.

Sounds good.

So I offer myself for Czech one. I'm probably only one who speaks Czech on this forum so I would be forced to make two other accounts to get at least 10 posts per month. Nice schizophrenia anyway... :D

Good idea, really. You got my vote. :)

A german forum would be great ;)

Would make for a lot of translation especially since the developers are all english speaking Natives.

Over time, I think it would detract from the community and make overall support more difficult as some people would only post in those forums whether other native language speakers would know the answers or not.

But would be better if someone becomes an answer then not, because he couldn't discribe his/her problem or question in english.
I think it would be a great for those...

I think it would be great to discuss about vB in our own language. Sure, if there are bugs or anything important, we still have to discuss that in english, but for the gerneral discussions, we could use the language specific forums.

Oh yeah!

German control panel and german templates would be great!

Please ad it.

So I emailed to John an d James esterday I the hope they will haer me and make it possible for us not native english speaking people.

Please keep on Voting for the forums and post your comments here. Because with no response John and James maybe don't think there is a need for this.

So Leute,

DANKE

Very good idea i think!
I have no Problems in reading and understanding the englich language, but writing is still a problem ;)

But i'm wondering, why nearly just germans want such a specific subforum. Aren't other nations (except Czech) on this board? :)

Christian,

We will open a German support forum as soon as we release a German version
of the software (within a couple of months). Thanks for offering to help
out in this forum - I'll be in touch as/when a bit closer to the time.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

All the best,

I'm also in for that! :)

Sure, sometimes it's really hard to understand what exactly the specific information says, I really have to concentrate myself to put it in the right place of my brain. :D ;)
Serious, if somebody needs a little help in translation don't be afraid to ask me, maybe I can fix a problem. :)

@The_Sisko:

(Translation: @The_Sisko: Great idea, i think. And it sounds really nice that a german version will be released in future. If I can support in any case don't bother to call me --- Well, referring to the "lite thread" -- I was really lucky that Ed payed attention to this one :) )

Regards,
Chris.

Well, Ninboy and me would support Spanish version too...

But I will help PeF in his Czech forums, just to keep him from going completely schizophrenic, ;)

Even better than releasing a stand-alone German version would be to integrate different languages.
This way the users could choose their language and could just switch the templates!
That would be great!!!!!!!!

And if someone is need for the translation into German I offer my help also! :)
Having an English speaking girlfriend and leading an international site made me nearly bi-lingual! ;)

Is aber net so schwer! ;)
man kann ja immer no ss, ae, usw. verwenden ;)

Update:

WOW, WOW, WOW

Was geht?
Woran kann das liegen?

Ich bin auch für ein deutsches Support-Forum ! !

And as a result we get a community split-up.. with german, dutch, french, etc communities, meaning worse support, and hardly the ability for the developers to communicate with their members.

English is not that hard. I have learned it in a few years because it's a good language to know in these international years.

The_Sisko
Tue 22nd May '01, 1:54pm
You are right, there might be a community split but not taht much. Wea re thing about those user you don't even use the support, because they don't know how to say their probs...those user you only board the system and installed it as good as they could. For those we need more help. I can read and write english as well and don't need german support forum for me, but I would like to help other german user with the vB stuff so there will be more users for vB as well. I know a lot of people who boaght a UBB because their is a german version and german support. So Jelsoft will even profit more with language specific forums.

Thats my opinion. Maybe James or John will now after vB 2.0 final is out get in contact again with us and tell us what is planed and in how far we can help.

True, it will help a lot of people that can't speak english properly. But if the idea should get through, you'd REALLY need strict policies and rules, to overcome problems like misinformation, community split and moderation.

(I doubt John knows all the dutch cusswords! :P)
