What'd he do?

I've banned 7 people in 4 months.

aperson3456*- underage (steviebrink rejoining for the third time, she was a liar and a troll, too)

def*- posted false comments about weed then attacked me based on his imaginary views.

monty*- flamed, ripped on homosexuals.

PotKckr*- def in disguise.

On one of my boards I've only had to ban one person for flaming continuously
On another one (which got more traffic than the other) I've banned at least 5 people for various offenses. I usually give these people pleanty of chances but I guess they really don't want to have the rights to post there...

The place I mod at gets at least 10 bans a month. Just depends on the "time of the month" of the supermods. :o

I've banned about a dozen, my mods combined have banned more. I think about 60 are banned now, but remember my site tends to be a magnet for lame hosts and Hotmail-based web designers.

I have only banned one person in my entire vBulletin Experience. He was just a general liar, and a very annoying spammer at sometimes. I gave him 2 warnings and then banned him and contacted his ISP.

I've banned quite a few for generally abusing othermembers on my forums and blatant spamming/advertising after requests, then warnings not to do so.

I've since used the miserable users hack and find it quite a pleasure to use. I now have 10 users in that category :D

7 banned by admins, 5 banned by moderators, 50 or so deleted (either due to requesting to be deleted, or being alts) in the year and 3 months we've been up (OTC)

I've banned about 40, possible more since December 18th 2001. We have a yellow, red, banned warning system and it suits me fine. Also had to gline some guys temporarily and one guy for 1000 days from our own IRC server we have. One person has been banned from all Danish web servers (as our host/partner happens to be the ISP which owns the 'net routers for Denmark...)

It's be a lot nicer if we didn't need to do that, but then our rules are quite strict, swearing is minimalised etc... no linking to warez, porn etc etc (as it's a gaming forum you can imagine how much warez links get posted)... We also host over 30 sub-sites (most of them for modding groups) and have contact with Codemasters, Sierra etc as we also enforce rules which they have given us for copyright ingrigements (ie: what they'll allow and what they won't)...

God, I hate it when people do that. As if having a RL acquaintence with the admin would really make a difference. That's like thinking that since you know the president of the U.S. that you are exempt from the law :rolleyes:

I guess the one thing about my forum is that it was basically built with castoffs from other forums :)

We wanted a place where we could bs about sports but not have to worry about four letter words and the like. Thus I was pretty adament about not banning, but I was given the word that if I didnt stop protecting this poster I would be left with a forum with this poster and mysefl. That was like three months ago - we are so steeped in the tradition of not banning that it took the guy that runs the forums this long to come to the decision that enough was enough. (I think he just wanted to get up to number one in post count, since he is a few hundred behind and just can not catch the other guy :))

Once the decision was made I just put in and if then statement at the top of all the main pages and included another rival forum for him :)
