View Full Version : modcp = No Announcements

Earlier tonight I had a moderator try to add an announcement to his forum via the Mod CP with no luck. I went to the MCP myself and tried to add his announcement for him with no luck. When I tried to add it, it redirected as if all was ok and said "Announcement Added to Forum" (or whatever the text is) but it did not add it. I couldn't see the announcement in the forum nor the CP. I then proceeded to the ACP and added the announcement with no trouble.

All permissions are ok, moderators are set to post announcements and even if they weren't, I would have been able to. :)

Is this a bug? Anyone tried this out yet?

Thanks,
Scott Z.

I can confirm this. Time for the bug squasher! :)

One of my supermods reported this same thing last night.

As admin I logged in the mod panel, and behavior is as described above. No error notices nothing, all seems well, but no announcement.

This is an upgraded forum, by the way.

By the way, where do I set who has rights to post announcements? I can't find it in groupmanager??? Or anywhere else

ACP >> Forums and Moderators >> Forum Permissions

Take one forum and edit the usergroup for your moderators and then us the duplication tool to set those permissions across the board (if that is what you choose to do).

Ooops, I picked the wrong one.

ACP >> Forums and Moderators >> Show All Moderators >> Edit (the edit selection will be next to each forum).

Thank you, Ed :)

And thank you too, Scott. It's not working since we don't have moderators. Only supermods. I'm guessing supermods are allowed to post anouncements by default. Not important now, but I just wondered.

Scott Z.That's all fine and dandy but how do you make it so NO moderator can post announcments? I can't find the Can Post Announcements yes/no option under usergroups. I sure as heck don't want to edit all my blame mods permissions.

At this time there is no option to limit Mods from posting announcements. You could manually edit the mod/index.php file to remove this option.

fixed it ;)

it seemed to be that i filled in to end that announcement the same day,

i wanted an announcement from 22 nov 2003 until 22 nov 2004
vbulletin entered automatically an end date 25 dec 2003, so i change 25 dec to 22 nov without checking the year :)

stupid me :)

thnx,
