Default View Age
This determines how many days worth of threads are shown on forumdisplay. The end-user can change this by using the controls at the bottom of showthread. You can use -1 to show all threads.

It's forumdisplay, not showthread. ;)
Setting 'Default View Age' to '-1' produces no changes.

This must be a problem in the documentation since the Admin CP says this:

Default View Age
(Default date cut-off for thread display)
Recommended values: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 75, 100, 365, 1000 (ie: all)

-1 was supposed to be changed to mean "all" according to a dev meeting months ago...moving to bugs.

It was never changed -- 1000 still means show all. I've adjusted the help to reflect this.
