On the server that I have vBulletin installed on, I can only have 1 mySQL database installed. On another server that I DON'T have a vBulletin license for I can make more than one database.

I only want to test vB version 3, without having to upgrade from version 2 on the site that has it installed.

So, is it okay if I were to install it on a site that I have no intention of installing vBulletin on for public usage and password protect the folder which it is on?

This way, I'll be able to make a database for it, install it, and test it out. Then, when I am finished, I can delete the new database and remove vBulletin on.

Please respond if this is ok. It is essential that I be able to do this, I need to test out vB3.

Yes you can do this as long as it's not publicly accessible.

Yes you can, just as long as it can't be accessed by the public. It's what known as a "Test Board".

Have a look at the vBulletin License Agreement: http://www.vbulletin.com/license.html
