View Full Version : [RESOLVED] Sub-forums - Need their own depth level ability..

You know you can set to see a forum depth of 2 or 3 etc...

What I find annoying is that there is no depth level for sub-forums...

If you have one forum with sub-forums which have sub-forums, you get loads of sub-forums on the page...

Any ideas on either how to do this (if it is built in) or whether you will implement something like this?

I thought something like this was gonna be covered in vb3, but I guess not. It would be a great benefit to us that would like to have a sub forum inside a subforum. Lets us know what you come up with Kier

lol my bad, basically what I was saying was that I thought vb3 already had the functionality for sub-forums to have their own deph level.

I want this feature too :) In vB3, not in vB3.1 :)

If you edit forumdisplay.php and functions_forumslist.php you can make it so that subforums only display the parents and not the subforums. I did this on my test board and it seems to be working fine. Much better than have about 5 main subforums with about 20 subforums (under those main subforums) all showing up at once.

Fear not, I'm already working on a system to allow you to control the depth to which subforums are displayed.

It should be available in Beta 4.

This is now done - you can specify a depth for subforums just like you can for normally displayed forums, with the exception being that if you set subforumdepth=0 the board will not display subforums at all.
