DB logins

I want a login form where the usernames and passwords are stored in a MySQL database.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Sorry for being a stupid newbie...

Here's what i'm looking for:

Someone goes to the script and it tells them to login. They enter the username and password which are stored in the database and then it redirects them to the next page.

Even better, if for example they went to addnews.php and have not logged in then it would display the login again, and once they logged in bring them back to addnews.php and it would display the news adding forms.

I've looked around and can't find any help on how to do this, can any of you help?
