Like, will I have to redo any of the customizations (no hacks, just extensive cfgs) I've done to my current 1.15 vB when I upgrade to 2.0?

The dev team is working on the upgrade script right now.
But something tells me it won't be a pain to upgrade. I mean seriously. Do you think a team that is this public would WANT to listen to everyone gripe here in the forum because they didn't take the time to make it easy? Put a little more faith in them.
Upgrading will be fine.

i think with all the new features that the templates will need be reset, that is the only thing that will be a slight pain.

Yes only a slight pain since they are making it backup your existing templates, so you'll have to do some copy and pasteing.

and because each seperate template is small it will be a matter of copying over your header and footer and the small changes made in each one.
Freedie did it and from the looks of when he started and finished it took him less than a day to do.

Most of my work is done in the header/footer so I just had to move those over and everything just fell in to place for me.

I dont see v2.0 being one pain at all as you can choose to lose your templates or not.

No your current templates will be backed up and the style will be set to the default which is these forums here.
There will also be other style sets available. Mainly different color variations of this forum.
You will have to rebuild all your templates. However since they are backed up you can use that to help.

I really think this will be the key to making it easy! :)

Whatever, they need to do it soon.
I know of four other web forums with a featureset almost identical to vBulletin, all free... and one of them promises no more than two SQL calls per page (using PostgreSQL and stored procedures).
vBulletin 2.0 needs to assert its presence soon so that the hacking, etc. etc. that makes these communities come alive can start.

Far as I can tell MYSQL is on more hosts then PostgreSQL.
Is that true?

Yes, I would say of those hosts that offer databases, the ratio is at least 5-to-1 in offering MySQL over PostgreSQL. Now, both databases have advantages and disadvantages (which is a whole new thread :) )

I'm not really fussy about the templates. As soon as it's installed, I'll take the next 5 hrs to customize my templates. Easy as that.

Or you said to much, or you didn't said enough now.

I am looking very much forward to the upgrade - but I must admit that I am also a bit "troupled" by the chance tha I have to translate all the software again.
In ver 1.1.3 I have translatet all templates into danish - and it is working fine - I hope that I can reuse a lot of that work.
Hope ver 2 will be here soon
