One little question:
What if our servers are load-balanced with a layer-4 network switch, so that the page may come from one of several web servers?
If the attachment is stored only on the machine that accepts the request, that's going to make things troublesome...

On the three machines that attachments aren't stored on, create a symbolic link to the directory where they are stored.
I do know that images are stored in the database though.

Uhm... how do you make a symbolic link that way? Do you mean use NFS? That would be one solution.

It would seem to be the only workable solution. Unless you want to copy every attachment to every server.

Attachments are stored in the database (which has been said before so please don't start a rant).

Sorry, Freddie, I hadn't heard that.
I assume they'll be in their own tables, etc. Not sure how that'll feel on the server but... guess we're going to find out. :)
