All up and running - albeit with a few bugs, such as our member count is +1000 and moderators are not being recognised, despite being listed on the moderators page...

However, all of a sudden, i'm getting the message 'You are either not a valid administrator or have not logged in. Please log in now:' and i'm unable to log back in - what's the crack ? I found a short script on the forum which is supposed to get you your admin rights back, but it doesn't seem to do anything :(

What's going on folks ? This is not good, as I cannot gain acces to *any* admin features! I am able to post on the forum itself, but with 'Junior Member' status. How do I regain control ? HELP!

Craig - do you have access to the database? If not, you may want to check out phpMyAdmin which will help administer the database.

Anyhow assuming you can access the database:

Firstly, set up an account on your forum.
Access your database and go to the User table. Browse the table until you find the username you have just setup. You are then going to edit the usergroupid field for this user. Change the usergroupid value for this username to 6. This will make the user an administrator.

You should now be able to access the admin section by using this username and will be able to make the necessary changes to rectify the situation.

Hope this helps - it's what I had to do when the same problem happened to me yesterday!

Thanks Morgo - I do have access to the database, but only through a web interface which the guy who hosts my site now has written. Unfortunately, loading 1000 members into it causes itto crash the browser :(

I'll drop him a line and get him to do it himself.
