Howdy,

I've just recently started renting a Virtual private server.
I have telnet/ssh access to the server itself and am allowed to install applications and server applications as I please.

My question is...how do I go about doing this?
Meaning...at home you just stick a cd rom in and run the setup program :P
So how do you do it remotely via yer home PC with a telnet link?
I really need to do a linux course I guess.

Basically I want to install a PHP Accelerator to make my forums and webpages run faster when it's all setup, but have no idea how to install things on a VPS from my home pc.

I'll probably end up paying someone to do it. :P

You'd need root ssh/telnet access and i wrote a guide at http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?action=getarticle&articleid=31

Has there been any research into phpaccelerator.co.uk with Apache 2.0? It doesn't work, right?

It works, but as I've said before, PHPA is buggy with SMP systems. I've had good luck with Turck MMcache lately. (I switched both of my servers over).
