I am looking to buy a board for my Iron Maiden site. I have heard that Ubb are the best, but vb seems to be more in my price range.

Can anyone point me in the write direction?

You can check out the Admin Demo of vB here: http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo/admin/
Username: admin, Password: admin

Click here (http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo/reset.php) to reset the demo if someone messed it up.

UBB is banned on many hosts due to the large CPU time that the board requires once it gets to a larger size, this can be seen on the Ventures Online TOS.

UBB is written in Perl with a flatfile database and vBulletin is written in PHP with a MySQL database.

My opinion is obviously biased but here it goes.

I think vBulletin is the better option as it as features which aren't included in Infopops product and its scalable with forums that have over 1,000,000 posts online.

Thanks for your help.

Would you suggest any of infopop's other products before choosing vbulletin? I have looked at their web site and found that they offer others such as ubb.X.

ubb.x is remotely hosted so you never have access to the script so making any modification is impossible so your stuck with their feature set, where with vBulletin you can obtain hacks from our hack site and apply them to increase the features.

vbulletin has more features and better support. I bought UBB a while ago and I took it down within a week. I am not the type of person that will become a fanboy just because they bought something.

I have owned both UBB and Vbulletin. Vbulletin is easier to modify and has more features. Things like invisible private forums were almost impossible to hack in when I had UBB but were standard in vbulletin.

UBB is written in Perl with a flatfile database and vBulletin is written in PHP with a MySQL database.UBB Threads, formally WWWThreads.

The Ubb seems to be a neater design for the user, is version 3 of vbulletin going to include any redesigning of page layouts?

You can hack the board so easily you can change the page layout all you want. You should see Filburt1's forums, his are REALLY customized.

That's all very well, but I would rather not have to be spending much time customizing the setup of my future board.

Well, you could search vbskins.com and such and look until you find a style you want then upload that.

Yes, the design for vB3 is being redone.
