I didn't take much notice of this problem until recently when I was expecting some mail.
I've got a virtual private server from Korksoft.com and when someone sends an email to me, it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes for the email to arrive?
I've even sent myself email from 2 other accounts and it still takes an age to come through.
One other thing I noticed was when people sign up on my forums, the email confirmations take the same amount of time to reach people!?
Is there anything i can check on the server, like a mail setting or something to speed this up? :(

Send an email to yourself from the same server. If its normal, then the problem lays on the other servers.

Hrm, when I try to send mail from UOForums.com (the one with the problem) to my ok email (uoempire.com) it came up with.....
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)
Ok, fixed that by enabling smtp authorisation or something in outlook.
Ok, email was sent to uoempire.com (working server) from Uoforums (the slow one).....hasn't shown up yet.
(And it probably wont' for about 30 minutes, which is what normally happens)

What is your mailing server software?
If your mailing queue is filled up, then delivery can take quite a while.

Hmm, not sure? How would I find that out?
The only reference I can find to mail was from phpinfo which had the sendmail path..
sendmail_path /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
I know, i'm a newbie at this
hehe

Ah, I think i've found out why :/
I am trying to send email through a Korksoft outgoing mail server - but keep getting errors, why?
Korksoft has employed a POP/IMAP-before-SMTP authentication type system. This allows us to dymanically authorize our users to be able to relay (or send) email through our outgoing mail servers, while at the same time, locking them down to prevent spammers from using our and your resources. The authorization remains in place for 60-minutes, after which you will need to check your email again, prior to sending any email. We suggest that you setup your email application to automatically check your email once ever 30-minutes. This will allow a seamless process of sending and receiving.
