I am seriously thinking about buying vBulletin. But I have phpBB right now for my forum. I was wondering, where do I get the converter? I have a lot of mods/hacks on my phpbb forum. I can remove the db addins from them and also the codes- if I need to to convert properly.

You can get the converter from the Member's Area, which you'll have access to once you purchase vBulletin.

Ok. Do you know the success rate on the converstion? This is the part I'm afraid of. I have about 1,000 posts from all the members, and I don't want to lose them all..

It should import fine. You should always backup your database before making changes to it (upgrading, converting, etc.) anyways, so if you have a backup/dump you won't lose anything if by some small cahnce soemthign goes wrong. If something does go wrong the vBulletin staff supports all official converters.

Ok, good. I have my DB backed up in 2 or 3 places. ;)

What version of phpBB are you currently running?

I have 2.0.4 with these mods:

Attachments
custom user titles
birthday
and some other misc mods that didn't require any DB alterations.

Unfortunately, our importers only handle default data. Any modifications to the database will not be carried over.
