Ezboard conversion question

I'm planning to move my board from ezboard to vbulletin, and I have a question about the conversion.

There are 3 hacks that I need to install:

Disabling the ignore feature:

Linking old ezboard posts with the new accounts created on vbulletin:

Is it safe to install these hacks before my ezboard posts are transferred to vbulletin?

I am assuming it is but why not convert the posts before you install the hacks?

It generally is, but you should convert the posts first.

Do not install any hacks prior to importing the posts.

I would have preferred to install the hacks first to minimize the time the board is off-line (I cannot have the users register on vb until the post linking hack is installed). But I'll take your adivce of course. Thanks for the prompt reply.
