Ok... here's the deal.
Last year I bought a Sony Digital Handycam (DCR-TRV340). It came with a CD with drivers for the product on it. (Windows XP)
Recently my system crashed, and now I need to reinstall the drivers... the only problem is that I can't find the CD... I went through all of my CD's twice and cannot find it.
Does anybody know where I can find the drivers online? I contacted Sony for a replacement CD but the folks there won't give me one. ;)
Thanks!

I saw that site and thought it was to update your drivers if you are having the problems specified above the download link.
I downloaded it just now, but it doesn't work...

Odd, I have a Sony TRV730 and I just plug it in (USB and Firewire) and Windows XP knows what it is. I have never installed drivers for it.

Same with my Sony Cybershot Digital camera and my Panasonic VHS-C Video Camera.

yes... when I first installed it on XP I didn't need the CD to install the drivers. However, when I had to start off my computer "as new" it doesn't recognize it anymore...

Cary, see if this helps:

The thing is, it knows it's connected. The hardward wizard pops up and asks for the location of the drivers. It can't find any, so the installation screen goes away... and the following message is displayed:
"A problem occured during hardward installation Your new hardward might not work properly."
When I first installed it, as Freddie and Wayne mentioned they didn't need the driver CD... nor did I, so the wizard never popped up for me before..

I think that Sony link is applicable for:
DCR-TRV740E
DCR-TRV738E
DCR-TRV341E
DCR-TRV340E
DCR-TRV241E
DCR-TRV240E
DCR-TRV239E
DCR-TRV238E
DCR-TRV140E
Freddie is correct, there is no need to install any driver, try the windows update site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Since I started the computer "as new" I never ran any Windows Updates... Maybe that's the problem. I'll try that and let you know what happens...
Thanks to everybody for their help so far!

Upgrade to SP1 also if you haven't.

I installed all of the critical updates waiting for me (including SP1), but now the computer doesn't even recognize the camera... odd...

Goddam WinXP.
This is a 1.4MB file from Sony Thai, see if that works for you.

Just an update... I switched USB ports and it recognized new hardware... but the wizard popped up again asking for the CD.
I'm now trying your other suggestion, nuno...

Hmm, I think that's not the correct ZIP, I think I goofed. :D
*gee* Let me run a search again.

It must've been the right one because it now works! (unless it was partially because of SP1)
I ran the setup in that zip and restarted my computer. I then connected the camera back to the computer. The thing that pops up by the tasking said 'Searching for Drivers' then it said it was successfully installed.
Thank you all three! (Freddie, Wayne, nuno) :D

Sorry to interrupt the topic, I'd like to know where I can download the Picture Gear 4.1 Lite Software for transfering my pic from camcorder to Windows 98.
