I've had some troublesome users posting links to C:\con\con which was an old Windows bug to crash my forum users. I've attempted to ban them but they keep switching IP addresses so I've unfortunately had to moderate my forums now.

I approve every post before it goes up. The only problem is that in the Moderation Queue I'm still getting those old troublesome posts, even though I clicked on the "No" portion of Validate Post. So now I have to cycle through all 40 bad posts, say no then approve the good ones. EVERY TIME :) I think you can imagine that this is just slightly grating. I've even deleted the username of the bad user but now they just say "Posted by: ". How can I get rid of these damned posts?

Why not just put a censor on it or something? :)

I dont know how to use censors yet but my point was just that I cannot delete threads in the Moderation Queue if I don't want to approve them, why not?

that's a very valid point and a serious flaw. I think we should ensure that a delete option is put in on the 2.0 release.

Someone mind linking me to a URL with some documentation on upgrading? I'm a little nervous at doing it at this point, don't want to lose all the users/posts/etc.

Thanks for all of your help so far, it's appreciated!

What version are you on?

All you have to do is close your board*, upload the new files, and run upgrade.php.

If you have 1.1.3+ there aren't any DB changes, so you don't HAVE to run upgrade.php. upgrade.php will only change the version number.

Also, if you're that paranoid, you could backup your database (use the search).

* If you're an admin, you're board won't appear closed, but it will be. Quite useful for testing.
