Can this be changed? It's so annoying...

I can never post anything I want, i always get that stupid error message... I have to resize it so the text in the image is barely readable...

Yes it can be changed but we would prefer leaving it as it is. There really is no reason to post images larger than 800x600 on these forums.

So you can actually read the text in screenshots?

Sure there is...screenshots larger than 800x600 will be squashed and text will be unreadable on screens taken at higher resolutions, i.e. 1600x1200 (what I'm running at).

Learn to use the crop tool ;)

I see no legitimate reason to need to post 1600x1200 screenshots on these forums at full resolution. As Joe said, cropping is good. ;)

i agree it sucks .. i have 1600x1200 desktop and making them to 800x600 or less makes them look like sh!t. :o

i don't see any harm increasing it to 1024*

Does anyone remember what the old (pre-beta) forum was set to?

I don't think the pre-beta forum settings are relevant since we are now showing thumbnails and the main reason, imo, to limit image size was to not blow out threads and cause long delays for modem users.

Good point. So what setting would you suggest?

Steve, what do you have your forums set at? I have no limit on my forums except the image must be smaller than 300KB, so my members have quite a bit to play around with.

IMO it should not be limited to any resolution because people see a thumbnailed view anyway.

I suggest a modification to this feature (if not already done in vB3).
Have the image dimensions limit ignored when thumbnails are enabled.

1024x768, I find with the larger monitors that are out, most people are shifting to that...

Also, we can't forget that huge images generally take up a lot of space....

1024*768 does seem more reasonable but I don't think the maximum file size should be raised all that much.
After all, that is what compression is for.

I hate to admit this but I can't even find this setting in the new Admin CP.

The file size limit is 102400 KB for all file types and images are set to 1024x768. That should suffice.
