A bug was found regarding the activation code, where users who registered prior to the upgrade but did not activate would have problems activating after the upgrade.
It will be declared stable in the next few days assuming no major problems are found.

Sorry if this was answered elsewhere, but will this have a fix for the recent registration issues regarding this porn spammer?

this will be a feature in vB3 but if you have GD installed I can provide some code to stop this from happening.

Well in all honesty I have no idea if I have GD installed. How would I find out?

How about when they sign up there is a random generated .gif with like 4 numbers or something that they have to type in to register? Wouldn't that stop the automated signups that the spammer bot uses?

I feel like I am in high school again, and my junior prom date(vb 3.0) and my senior prom date(vb 2.30) don't wanna put out :D

I hope the email header is changed back to the way it was in 2.2.9. Despite having my domain typed in in the user CP fields, it still lists my host .co.uk in mails to members. I have alrady had several PM's from members confused about another domain listed in their email. It also looks GROSS.

shouldn't be junior prom date be vb 2.3 and senior prom date be vb 3?
Seems a bit awkard going backwards in version numbers :p

It's been almost a month since this "next few days" message was posted. Have there been major problems or did somebody forget to update the version from RC3 to Stable?
Thanks,
Bill

They said that they are waiting for a simultanious release with the German version. I feel bad for those whos licenses run out between now and then, seems they are getting ripped.

I'm glad someone picked up on that.
When vB3 and it's language packs is ready, then simultaneous release should (hopefully) not take so long.

AFAIK vB3 will be released in English only -- but I could be wrong....

Funny you say that, my member area access expired on 17th March, however I won't renew until vB3 probably...not sure.

I think you will find that vb3 will be released in German and English for the first public beta. From the impression i get from reading the announcement it and it says "Conversion of all text to use the language system". And especially with the fact they seem to be wanting to release vb 2.3 stable the same time.
But hopefully with language being differently done in vb 3.0 (language not in the template), will mean that the work being done is more replacing the words with veriables.

Then we have to wait till someone from the Dev Team answers, I don't know what to think about this Language Packs issue anymore.

You are still able to access the Member's Area for trouble tickets and use the support forums, you just can't download updates. Is this correct or did I mis-understand this?

Those members of the vBulletin team who are still running vB2 on their boards have been running this version for the last few days and I am confident that no further bugs will arise, but in keeping with recent releases I am declaring this version a Release Candidate. If no bugs are found in the next few days I will upgrade the status of vB 2.3.0 to 'Stable'.
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=65126
We wait now 6 weeks and nothing released!
How much days/weeks/months we must wait for an stable vB 2.3.0???
How many bugs are found in vB2.3.0?
Or is this a problem with vbulletin-german.com?
Itīs now the same as vB3.0, always waiting, waiting waiting and no release!

We are sorry about this but we were waiting for the members area at vBulletin-Germany to update their code to match the latest at vB.com. We then recieved some problems when the german style was in use which was a couple of flaws with sending notification and template sets in association with forum settings. Which have now been corrected.
There are now known issues with vBulletin 2 and I beleive that the vBG team are now running the code on their sites.
The long time between releases can also be attributed to the fact that all the developers are developing for vB3 the majority of the time.
[Dont quote me]Anyway hopefully we should see a release soon[/Dont quote me]

I am sorry but I need to point out that this problem is not related in any way to the german style but with custom styles in general.
Please read this: Wrong templateset used while validating new posts (mod/moderate.php) (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=68487)
We are sorry about any delay resulting out of the official start of vBulletin Germany. But as Scott says most of this delay is probably because of the vB3 development plus some new bugs that were found and fixed yesterday. vB2 is in no way insecure or unstable. Not in 2.2.9 or 2.3.0 RC3.

So, where does that leave us?
You better post an Announcement about vB 2.3.0 RC development status as well, to avoid further riots.

Its great that you can see everything as being clear clut, things can happen in that time to put back stable releases. Not everyone has time to update posts with the latest information, just be patient.
Head in sand not wanting to see the bigger picture springs to mind.

The german language is done though some bugs emerged when a different language was used as the default style set such as places where the master english style was used instead of the german default style. These have been resolved and testing is now in progress.
